I am interested in corpus linguistics, empirical methods in (computational) linguistics, and technical communication.

Currently, I focus on knowledge communication, the communication between experts laypersons, and Business Rules Management (e.g. my post on the Software Innovations Technology Blog).

As a researcher within the DFG-funded project HyTex, I investigated lexical chaining, thematic indexing, and the automatic extraction of definitions  (see "Resources"). 

Question-answering systems and NER was the focus of my work as a researcher within the BMBF-funded project SmartWeb.
